The Dream Catcher

She waits patiently whilst you silently drift off into slumber. Always waiting, always calling. Tempting to give in. After all, it’s only your dreams.

Choosing to Stand

She longed for the sweet sunshine and warm sands of the upper world. Where the winds persistently lulled her with their promises of a better life.

A life free of him.

For years she had search for sunken human treasures, each offering just a glimpse of the dream land. Only after studying each piece methodically, for purpose and deeper meaning, would the little mermaid tuck them safely into her hidden cave. Her secret.

Enough was enough. With her loneliness and longing as guide, Nerina decided it was time to leave.

Yetis are best served chilled

The legendary Yeti (Bigfoot, Abominable Snowman), bought to life in the Alps. This piece was inspired by Laura’s life long passion for skiing.

Despite being English, I was raised on a diet of slalom skiing and dijonaise sandwiches. Without much money, ski trips were mostly dry slopes and 18 hour car journeys to out-of-resort chalets. I couldn’t have loved it more.

This piece is about celebrating skiing and snowboarding through the joy of Yetis. Whether they are soaking up the sun with a bottle of Alpini, or crushing it in the snow park, it’s fair to say that Yetis know how to live the good life.

What Lies Within

For most, her cave was legend and death. They had come with their swords and promises of worldly treasures, but they never left.

He had heard the stories. He knew the peril. But with Calein’s first act alone, the dragon understood no harm would pass. Shoes off, the boy brought the wyvern new stories. Stories of princesses and mermaids, read by candlelight from his favourite fairytales book.

Kindness was matched by kindness. And in turn, the boy and beast found the greatest treasure of all, friendship.

Born to the sea, raised by the Sun

All things have a beginning, and this mermaid is mine. Folk and Dreams started on a family holiday to Cornwall, UK. If you’d like to read more about my story as an artist, check out my About Me page.

This dreamlike mermaid is inspired by the Cornish tales of alluring sea-maidens and devilish sirens.

A maiden basks in the sun, masking her true nature. Unknowingly, a galleon of sailors inching towards their doom. Their sails filled with the chants of her lullaby blowing in the wind.
